Madonna and Child / Limited Edition of 300
The Madonna and Child has been an ongoing theme for me because of an experience I had as a child in Cuba. When I was 7, I had a strange incident in Havana in the home I grew up in. One day in the living room, I was on my knees on a couch looking at a work of art that our family owned on the wall. When I looked to the left, about 10 feet from me, there was a woman dressed in white standing there holding a baby. I was very surprised and stunned because I knew that lady was not supposed to be in the house, but I wasn’t scared. She looked at me very peacefully while she held her baby. Being the curious child that I was, I got off the couch and began to walk towards her as she looked down on me. I reached out to her and touched her and she disappeared. I’ve never had this experience again and still do not completely understand the meaning behind it.
